CAIR - Council on American-Islamic Relations is a grassroots and advocacy group created to "challenge stereotypes of Islam and Muslims." Since 1994, the Council on American-Islamic Relations has been working to establish a positive image of Islam and Muslims living in the United States. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., CAIR has regional offices in over 25 locations around the country and operates as  the largest Muslim civil rights organization in the United States. CAIR's mission is to improve the understanding of Islam while encouraging dialogue and protect civil liberties. Additionally, the organization strives to empower American Muslims to build alliances that help promote mutual understanding and justice.
