California Hospital Medical Center is a 318-bed hospital located in downtown Los Angeles, designated as a Level II Trauma Center. Founded in 1887, the medical center grew quickly and by 1902 moved into a new building, making it the first fireproof hospital. California Hospital Medical Center is home to the California Reproduction Health Institute. Opened in 1986, the institute was the home of the United State's first successful frozen embryo transfer.
