Fabric Workshop and Museum - FWM is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based contemporary art museum that is dedicated to helping artists experiment with fabric, along with a wide range of other materials, in a range of media. Founded in 1977, Fabric Workshop and Museum offers studios, equipment, and technical experts to help foster artistic expression in installation, painting, video, architecture, and ceramics. Artists work in studios that are open to public viewing, so that works of art can be followed from planning to completion. Young Philadelphia residents are offered apprenticeships, allowing them not only artistic opportunities, but the chance to learning vocational and technical skills. Fabric Workshop and Museum also offers an Artists-in-Residence program, exhibitions, a permanent collection of artwork, lectures, and educational programming.
