The Jewish Family Service of San Diego is a client-focused, impact-driven organization that works to build a healthier, stronger, more resilient community. Its mission, "Tikkun Olam," means to repair the world. Led by its founder and first volunteer, Rose Neumann, JFS San Diego was founded in 1918 when a group of 16 women came together to combine four Jewish women's groups into one organization. When it first launched, JFSSD was dedicated to helping immigrants find refuge, including shelter, food, and employment. As the San Diego population grew, the organization shifted its focus to counseling and strengthening families.

Today, the Jewish Family Service of San Diego is a nonprofit human services agency that supports more than 35,000 people throughout San Diego, California. The organization offers aging and wellness, case management, counseling, family support, food assistance, networking, parenting and youth, refugee and immigration, and teen leadership services. Moreover, with aid from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Jewish Family Service of San Diego provides residents of California's Coachella Valley with supportive services. This program is designed to empower autonomy in individuals and includes access to education, budgeting instruction, case management, employment assistance, food distribution, and more.
