KABOOM! is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing more active play into the lives of children by creating and improving community playgrounds across the United States. Founded in 1996 with the construction of its first playground at Livingston Manor in Washington, DC, KABOOM! became the first nonprofit to have a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavor named after it in 2001. In 2002, the organization introduced an online playground project planner to help scale its impact online. Since its inception, KABOOM! has built or improved more than 16,700 playgrounds that serve more than 8.5 million children.
