Oakland Heritage Alliance is dedicated to "the protection, preservation, and revitalization of Oakland's (California) architectural, historic, cultural, and natural resources through publications, education, and direct action." As a nonprofit organization, Oakland Heritage Alliance was founded in 1980 and it hosts educational events, lecture series, preservation award ceremonies, and other events in order to educate and engage the public. In addition, Oakland Heritage Alliance advocates for Oakland's historic heritage through community action and legislative tracking in areas like zoning and urban planning. In the past, Oakland Heritage Alliance has offered part-time jobs for people interested in its mission.
