About Pacific Environment

Researched & Written by Adrianne Bibby on the FlexJobs Team

Pacific Environment is a nonprofit organization working to end fossil fuel use and protect the Pacific Rim and its living environment, including plants, animals, and the ecosystem. Established in 1987, the nonprofit has hired for 100% remote, flexible schedule, and freelance jobs in the past, posting opportunities in environmental & green, nonprofit & philanthropy, government & politics, consulting, and other related career areas. Once hired, employees are offered pay that is commensurate with their experience and equitable with other team members, as well as a full benefits package as eligible. A global nonprofit, Pacific Environment has worked with communities across the U.S. West Coast and Alaska, as well as in China, Vietnam, South Korea, and other Pacific Rim nations, to meet its mission of strengthening local and grassroots environmental efforts.

Through its work with partnership organizations, Pacific Environment has contributed to the protection of old-growth forests, closed factories that have polluted local rivers, and enabled local groups to make oil, gas, timber, and mining companies heed their concerns. To accomplish its goals, Pacific Environment works with activist leaders and nongovernmental organizations to hold corporations, governments, and funding institutions responsible for their actions. Armin Rosencranz, an attorney and activist, founded the organization as Pacific Energy and Resources Center with an initial goal of publishing articles and research that highlight environmental issues worldwide. Today, Pacific Environment focuses its multi-pronged efforts on six broad areas: communities, oceans, freshwater, biodiversity, energy, and climate change.
