In 2003, Quality Matters outlined a plan for scalable-course quality assurance and applied for a Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education with the U.S. Department of Education. Although the company’s grant ended in 2006, QM continued to operate as a self-sustaining program of the MarylandOnline, Inc. consortium, training thousands of education professionals and over 1,300 universities and colleges on online course design. Today, Quality Matters is widely considered an industry leader. It serves more than 1,000 members, including K-12 schools, government agencies, colleges and universities, technical colleges, community colleges, corporations, and other educational organizations. Best known for its blended and online courses for professional and higher education, QM is comprised of more than 8,000 certified reviewers who help clients improve student achievement and attain quality assurance goals.
