Alight - Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief is an international and human-centered nonprofit relief organization dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance to over 3.5 million refugees, trafficked persons, economic migrants, and other displaced and marginalized people around the world. The organization was founded as American Refugee Committee in 1979, but recently changed its name to drop the label "refugee" in solidarity with the people it serves who are "too often defined by a single dark moment in their lives."

In the past, Alight has supported work flexibility by hiring for short-term, temporary, and part-time jobs in career areas like human services, administrative, and nonprofit & philanthropy. Among various role-related qualifications, the organization is interested in hiring candidates who have strong interpersonal, management, organizational, and communication skills, and who strive for humility, inclusivity, empathy, joy, bravery, optimism, and creativity. Working to pioneer a “new kind of human institution,” Alight helps people who have fallen victims to war, natural disasters, or civil conflict. The nonprofit goes beyond satisfying basic needs to helping people find connection, joy, and purpose in the challenging situations they face today. Alight provides services such as healthcare, shelter repair, trauma counseling, community development services, repatriation assistance, clean water, legal aid, and microcredit for people in more than 16 countries worldwide. In its 30+ year history, Alight has worked with various dedicated partners and constituencies in its efforts to help millions of people live better lives and achieve self-sufficiency. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Alight maintains an additional location in Washington, DC.
