The Agency for Persons with Disabilities - APD became an independent Florida state agency in 2004 to specifically serve the needs of Florida residents with developmental disabilities. The APD partners with local communities and private providers throughout Florida to pinpoint the needs of developmentally disabled individuals for services and support. The Agency for Persons with Disabilities serves more than 50,000 people in Florida living with severe autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, Spina bifida, Down syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and Prader-Willi syndrome. APD also serves the needs of children between the ages of three and five who are at risk of a developmental disability.
