Girl Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) was founded in 1921 as the Austin Girl Scout Troop, just nine years after the first Girl Scouts troop was established. A member of the world's largest nonprofit youth organization committed to empowering girls through leadership, GSCTX is headquartered in Austin, Texas, and has more than 32,000 members across 46 Texas counties.

After experiencing considerable growth and change in the 20th century, the division collectively gathered local chapters in 1951. Today, the Girl Scouts of Central Texas operate out of the Lone Star Program Center and includes four assemblies: Heart of Texas, Bluebonnet, Lone Star, and El Camino. For nearly a century, the Central Texas division has provided opportunities to girls over the age of five and in grades K-12. GSCTX offers day camps and sleepaway camps for its members, including Camp Kachina, Camp Texlake, Zilker Cabin, Camp Howdy, Camp Dixie Allison, Camp Happy Hollow, and Camp Woodlake.

As an employer, the Girl Scouts of Central Texas believes in empowering young girls and women, connecting troops and neighborhoods to form friendships and community unions, getting involved in community service, and having fun. Furthermore, GSCTX relies on the support of 12,000 volunteers to sustain its operations. In the past, the Girl Scouts of Central Texas have recruited for positions with part-time flexibility.
