Based in Denver, Colorado, Mile High United Way is an affiliate of the national United Way organization that seeks to catalyze social change through community-based programs and services that improve the lives of children, individuals, and families. The first United Way in the United States, Mile High United Way was founded by one woman and four clergymen in 1887 as the Charity Organization Society with the mission of funding local charities and meeting local needs while reducing the overall number of appeals for donations.
