Girls on the Run International, or GOTRI, inspires girls to be confident, healthy, and joyful through a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively incorporates running. Founded in 1996 with help from 13 bold girls, Girls on the Run is creating a world in which every girl realizes and actuates her boundless potential and feels free to courageously pursue her dreams. The organization obtained 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in 2000 and is now comprised of 200 U.S. councils nationwide.

Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, Girls on the Run International influences communities across the U.S., offering programs for elementary and middle-school girls, Camp GOTR, and parent resources. With support from over 100,000 volunteers, the organization annually serves more than 185,000 girls. In 2015, GOTRI hosted 250 end-of-season 5K events nationwide, making it the country's largest 5K series. Girls on the Run has also been featured in numerous media outlets, including People magazine, NPR, Parenting magazine, Runner's World magazine, NBC News, and CNN, among many others.
