Girls on the Run of New Orleans, Louisiana, or GOTR NOLA, is a local council of Girls on the Run International, which launched in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1996. GOTR NOLA was established in 2010 by a committee of 10 women who wanted to provide girls across New Orleans with opportunities to grow.

After raising the council startup fee, GOTR NOLA began outlining its programming, which launched in the fall of 2010. In its first year, Girls on the Run of New Orleans served 22 participants in two sites. By its fourth year, which represented its highest growth rate, the organization served nearly 400 participants in two dozen sites. Today, Girls on the Run of New Orleans serves more than 1,000 girls in more than 40 sites, offering a fun, experienced-based curriculum that creatively integrates running and teaches girls to recognize their power, embrace their differences, express their joy, lead with their heart, nurture their health, and stand up for themselves.

At the heart of Girls on the Run of New Orleans and all GOTR councils is the commitment and passion of the volunteers who help sustain its operations and positively impact the lives of young girls every year.
