Girls on the Run - DC, or GOTR-DC, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization helping girls achieve joy, health, and confidence through programs that fuse emotional, behavioral, and cognitive development with physical activity. Girls on the Run - DC was founded in 2006 and started out serving one team of 13 girls at a DC-based private school. Today, the organization offers life-changing programs to more than 2,100 girls per year. To date, it has served over 17,000 girls in more than 145 locations across Washington, DC, and in Prince George County, Maryland.

Girls on the Run - DC inspires girls through exercise, positive reinforcement, and encouragement, helping them develop the self-confidence necessary to thrive during their pre-teen years and in life beyond adolescence. Girls on the Run of Washington, DC offers three core programs, each of which caters to elementary, middle, and high school girls, respectively. Its programs teach participants how to build self-worth, respond to others, make intentional decisions, develop cooperative skills, nurture their physical and emotional well-being, and contribute to society.
