The League of Women Voters of California General Fund (LWVC) is a grassroots, nonpartisan, membership organization that is affiliated under the national League of Women Voters (LWV). This national organization was officially formed in 1920 in an effort to assist and educate women who just received the right to vote. Through education, advocacy, and encouraging the public to participate in its local, state, and national governments, LWV and its chapters hope to strengthen democracy for all.

Though political, the League of Women Voters of California, along with the national organization, is careful not to support or oppose any political parties. It also extends its membership to all men and women regardless of age and citizenship. LWVC conducts research and takes positions and actions on key issues such as California water resources, climate change, political budget and finance issues, school and community issues, voting rights, and more. Some recent legislation and bills the organization has taken position or action on include the Political Reform Act of 1974, which LWVC supports to limit campaign contributions in local elections. In addition, the organization recently proposed support of the California Partnership for Infants and Toddlers, a state funding program for childcare and development services.
